the lounge

 my living room
the lounge, the study, the dining room, the living room. it seems as though this little section of my apartment has many-a-purpose. and, unfortunately, is painfully bare. i am dying to get some art on the walls to make it a little less dorm room and a little more young professional. but again, which budget column does wall decor come out of? some days it seems as though i could justify the emergency section, but then my car needs a new battery and i am quickly brought back down to earth.
i heard somewhere, sometime that your 20s are for getting creative with treasures from thrift shops and IKEA... your 30s are for replacing the painted-ten-times-to-replicate-something-you-saw-in-pottery-barn-coffee-table with the real thing... and your 40s are for purchasing practical, durable decor to last beyond your 50s. so far, i am right on track. most of my furniture was a steal from free to $65 for the clean line, orange couch. and honestly, i wouldn't have it any other way. it is all mine. paid in full. and the fruit of my painting labor. now if only i could splurge a bit and frame those pieces of art sitting in my closet. my car will be good this month, right?

how do you justify spending the hard earned cashola on your home? do you have any creative, diy projects for me to steal? where do you find inspiration? hoping your do-it-all room is filled with comfort and a welcoming presence at the end of the day.
