worst
central bbq: bbq chicken sandwich [coleslaw on bun] with potato salad
better
eating in: leafy greens with strawberries, avocado, baked chicken breast, light ranch dressing
best, but still not great
eating in: chicken fajitas with cheese and avocado
i am making a real effort to eat better. practice what i preach, perhaps. but it sure is hard. i've said it before... i am inclined to get into ruts. i prefer to call it a routine, but eating pasta five nights a week qualifies as a big, ole, can't-sugar-coat-it rut. above is my weekend in food. it is not great, but at least it is different. i could definitely do without the visit to my favorite bbq joint, but a girl's gotta splurge on rainy, cold days. typically my refrigerator is filled with five apples for a week of lunch, leftover pasta, condiments that are never used, and parmesan cheese. this week you would find strawberries [i'd be fibbing if i didn't tell you they were for strawberry cupcakes to bring to work. but i plan on eating them without the sugar too.], apples, baked chicken, whole wheat tortillas, milk [gasp], avocado, peppers, and cheese. much improved, but could still use some work.
how do you incorporate the pyramid into your daily routine? where do you find manageable recipes to make at the end of a long day? how do you add protein and fiber into your meals? please, friends, do tell. this rut is getting ridiculous.
