guiding thoughts [labor day edition]

all in a day's work
"look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. it's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do, and you've done it." [lord acton]
labor is a funny thing, isn't it? it's the day to day, mundane act of working. of filling our time. of making money. and most usually has a negative connotation associated with it. if you're one of the lucky ones and get to describe their job as their passion, their joy and their love, then labor doesn't seem nearly as heavy. perhaps others see the eight-to-fiveas hell-on-earth. but no matter how you feel about your occupation, it feels good to be productive. doesn't it? when at the end of the day you can say you accomplished what you set out to achieve, well, then that's a very good twenty-four hours. on this labor day, may you fully appreciate the fact that you have a job. that you get to be productive. that you get to contribute to society. and what's more, that you get to have a full day off to relish in the beauty of rest. and rejuvenation. work hard, play hard. that's the labor of love.
