breakfast brilliance

*thank you for your thoughts of the brumfields.
it sounds like surgery went well and they are profiling the type of tumor to determine treatment plans.
prayers are still welcomed! xo

and now back to happy thoughts.
because C has fabulous friends, we hosted a group of guys/gals overnight last weekend.
i knew the days were going to be full and chaotic, so i made a few breakfast hangover food prior to their arrival.
muffins and cinnamon rolls are always a hit, but i wasn't so sure about this breakfast casserole.
turns out it was the life of the after party.
this is another recipe that will be stored in my recipe box for a long, long time.
day old bread
 a ton of eggs
1 pound of Italian pork sausage (cooked, drained, and crumbled)
4 1/2 cups cubed day old bread
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
10 eggs slightly beaten
4 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
fresh ground pepper to taste
heat a skillet on medium high. break up the sausage into chunks and cook until browned. remove the cooked sausage from the pan and let sit on paper towels on a plate. crumble into smaller pieces.
place bread in a well buttered 9x13 baking pan. sprinkle with cheese. combine the eggs, milk, dry mustard, onion powder and pepper. pour evenly over the bread and cheese. sprinkle sausage over the top.
cover and chill overnight.
preheat over to 325 degrees. bake uncovered for about one hour.
enjoy!
